What do your classroom displays say about the learning occurring in your room?
Classroom Wall Displays should reflect the learning that is occurring. If that's the case then there are many rooms where learning stops well short of the potential, and a huge number that display largely teacher or commercial work. What do the classroom walls say about the learning in your classroom(s).
Do they indicate where the learning could be enriched through more effective use of ICT products and processes?
As I visit schools I often have my camera at the ready as a means of data collection. The photos I take can be useful in discussing next steps in learning, and targeting the raising of student achievement through specific ICT interventions. Check out these pictures and decide
What is the learning that is occurring? How powerful is it? How would you score the thinking involved using SOLO or Bloom's Revised taxonomy?
How could it be extended wider and deeper through the use of ICT products? and processes?
What could be the next step in the learning process of current or future work in this class?
Once you have done this, be prepared to look at the work on your own classroom walls with the same critical eye. Perhaps even use it as a pre staff meeting activity with each teacher critiquing their own walls as a basis for next steps learning - maybe they could even bring a photo of one good and one not so good piece of work to use as in the flow diagram example. Remember this is about next steps learning and you need a well established culture of "no blame no shame" before going to that level in your school.
